Fishing Bait Spotlight:Shrimp and Prawn Cure Bait RecipeShrimp and Prawn Bait Cure Shrimp is one of the best baits for fishing for steelhead, salmon, rock cod, and more. The problem with shrimp is that it breaks off the hook easy. There are a few options to make your shrimp or prawns more tough and durable so that they last longer, stay on your hook longer, and stay fresh and ready for use. You can also use dye to dye your shrimp many different bright colors to your go to color for fishing. There are also some shrimp cures that you can buy and easily mix for an alternative. Shrimp or Prawn Bait Cure Ingredients•1 Cup White Sugar•1/5 Cup Kosher Salt•Shrimp or Prawns •Bright Food Coloring Shrimp and Prawn Bait Cure Recipe InstructionsMix the ingredients together in a canning jar, Tupperware, or zip lock bag. Store in the refrigerator or in your ice chest to keep it cold and fresh. Additional Fish Attractant ScentAdditional scent can optionally be added, but after the curing process as the oils will prevent the cure from setting into the shrimp meat. I usually brine my shrimp the night before my fishing trip, then add the fish attractant scent to the mix in the morning just before I head out to go fishing and mix it well.
