Fishing Bait Spotlight:Trout Dough BaitTrout Dough BaitTrout really like soft dough baits. This dough bait recipe will entice even the most finicky of Lunker trout to bite your line. Works on all trout, but even more so for planter trout. If you are going to fish with a bobber you will want the bait to sink. You can do this by using a dough bait hook that has a spring in the center to weight it down, or you can skip the ingredients below that cause flotation. If you are going to fish with a sinker on the bottom, you will want the trout bait to float up from the bottom using the flotation ingredients below. Trout Dough Bait Recipe Ingredients•Base Ingredients - Any 1 of the following (Dice and mush them up real good)o¾ Cups of Flouro¼ Cup of Corn Mealo½ tsp Garlic Powder, Garlic Salt, Granulated or Chopped Garlico¼ Cup of Water•Flotation Ingredients - Any 1 of the Following if Neededo½ Cup of Marshmallowso¼ Cup of Marshmallow Creme•Trout Attractant Ingredients - Any 1 of the following o2 oz. of processed cheese o3 tablespoons Peanut buttero1 Tablespoon of your Favorite Trout Fish AttractantoAnise extract or Anise Fish Attractant•Additional Trout Attractanto1/2 Teaspoon of glitteroDrops of food coloring to get the desired color•Optional Ingredients oAdditional Flotation - Mix in some ground up StyrofoamoAdditional Thickness - Add cotton ball fibers to the mixTrout Dough Baits Recipe Instructions•If you are using cheese or marshmallow you will need to warm them up a little bit to be able to mix them together and set aside to add after you add the wet ingredients•Mix Dry Ingredients together in a medium sized mixing bowl•Mix wet ingredients together in the mixing bowl•Combine the bowls into one bowl and stir well until well mixed•Put 2 tablespoons of flour on hard surface covered in wax paper•Put the mixed dough onto the flour and mix well together by kneading it •Place into ziplock bag or tub until ready to fishKeeping the Dough Bait Fresh It’s important to keep the dough bait from drying out and remaining soft and fresh so that the trout will not spit it out when they try to eat it. To do so, always keep the dough bait out of direct sun light for long periods of time, and keep it in a ziplock bag or tupperware type container with an air tight seal.
