Lake Berryessa is home to a variety of fish, including several types of large catfish, Chinook King Salmon, Kokanee Salmon, Brown Trout, Rainbow Trout, Smallmouth Bass, Largemouth Bass, Spotted Bass, Crappie, Bluegill, Sunperch, and more. Water skiers are all over the center of the lake during the summer heat, but there are many channels and areas of the lake that provide great fishing opportunities even when the lake has a lot of traffic that tend to congregate in the big part of the lake.
If you are fishing from the shore, the inlets are the perfect place to start. Capell Cove and Steel Canyon Inlet are known to be productive locations, as well as the areas near the Big and Small Islands. If you're wanting to fish for catfish, the most popular spots are the Putah Creek Inlet, Pope Creek Inlet, and the area north of the northern bridge.
