CATFISH DOUGH BAIT RECIPE
Homemade Catfish Dough Bait
Catfish will bite on a lot of things, the key is knowing where to find them,
and casting right on top of them. Many of the store bought baits will work
very well, but I like the homemade dough baits so that I can play with the
recipe a bit to get exactly what I want with the right consistency to stay on
the hook, and the right amount and type of scents. I usually have some
store bought catfish dough baits on hand, so when I bring my own baits, I
will always have one line out with a store bought dough bait, and a home
made dough bait out at the same time, and once I get two bites on one of the lines on two separate
casts, I will switch both lines to the one that is working that day.

How to Make Catfish Dough Bait Stay on the Hook
Whether you use a store bought catfish dough bait, or you make your own dough bait recipe, you may
find the bait can be hard to keep on the hook. I like to use a dough bait treble hook that has a spring
around the center of the treble hook that will hold the bait on better. You can also add thread or string
to stretch around your bait to make it stay on the hook. Lastly, you can put your bait in a mesh medical
tubular bandage, which will hold the bait solidly on the hook very long so that you won’t miss that catfish
bite when the fish come by to check out your bait.
Keeping the Catfish Dough Bait Fresh
It’s important to keep the dough bait from drying out and remaining soft and fresh so that the catfish will
not spit it out when they try to eat it. To do so, always keep the dough bait out of direct sun light for long
periods of time, and keep it in a ziplock bag or tupperware type container with an air tight seal. This will
also keep more of the stinky scent in the bag or container instead of in the air where you have to
constantly smell it. Remember, the stinkier the bait the better, but that doesn’t mean you have to make
yourself sick in the process, or the guy fishing next to you, Lol.
Magic Catfish Dough Bait Kit
Magic Bait Catfish dough bait kit has everything you need to go
catfishing. It comes with a stringer, swivels, sinkers, bobbers,
dough bait hooks in various types, and catifsh dough bait. The
perfect kit to get you started in catfishing. This dough bait has a lot
of scent, so I recommend bring some large gallon sized ziplock
bags to put the bait in once it’s opened so it won’t stink you out. It
has the perfect amount of stink scent that the catfish love, and
works great!
Berkley Powerbait Catfish Dough Bait Chunks
Berkley powerbait catfish dough bait chunks are perfect dough baits for
fishing for catfish. They are scented with a lot of mixed in scent, and they
are firmed up to stay on the hook better. It comes in many different
flavors that catfish love. Some of the flavors that they come in are fish
scent, blood scent, liver scent, and liver and blood scent. All the flavors
and scents that catfish love.
Catfish Dough Bait Hooks
Catfish dough bait hooks are great for holding the dough
type baits onto your hook, and the spring in the center
also adds weight to the hook which helps to keeps the
baits on the bottom instead of floating up and away from
a hungry catfish. Also works great for trout dough bait,
when you are fishing with a bobber, it will force the trout
bait to sink below the surface where the fish are biting.
