About Collins Lake

Collins Lake opens at sunrise year round and offers for lakefront RV hookups, tent camping, fishing, boating, picnics, or just sitting on the beach enjoying the sun. They are well know for huge bass, trophy trout, catfish, and you can’t forget their famous big scoop ice cream cones! It is a 1600 acre lake and recreation area that has twelve miles of shoreline. It is up in the beautiful California gold country foothills, and is about an hour out of Sacramento between Marysville and Grass Valley. Their facilities include RV hookups, boat launch, marina, boat rentals, a big sandy swimming beach, a playground for the kids, beach volleyball, shady picnic area, general store, laundry, and nice hot showers. They plant over fifty thousand rainbow trout typically starting around October, and continue throughout the spring. This includes thousands of trophy sized trout that are from three to eight pounds, each and every year. Starting in the fall of 2022 and through the spring of 2023, they will be adding Golden Rainbow Trout, also referred to as Lightning Trout to their fish planting schedule. Lightning Trout are known for their big fight that goes along with their big size. For each of their two thousand pound fish plants, they will include five hundred pounds of the Lightning Trout. Collins Lake has invested both time and money in building up their fishery with their amazing fish stocking program, as well as building habitat areas for their bass, crappie, bluegill, and catfish fishery to keep them plentiful and to keep Collins Lake among the best fishing lakes in Northern California.

Fishing at Collins Lake

Collins Lake is a large private lake, with a large fish stocking program to keep the lake full of rainbow trout and lightning trout, for fishermen to catch. You can catch. Try your luck at catching some great rainbow trout, lightning trout, bass, crappie, bluegill, and catfish. You can fish straight from, or within just a short distance from, many of the different campsites, which is a very big draw to this lake. If you have a boat, or rent a boat, you can get into a lot more fish as well by being able to locate them on the fishfinder, and troll through them, or sit by them and cast into them.

Camping at Collins Lake

Collins Lake has a lot of camping sites available for booking online. They all have at least a two night minimum, with some campsites having up to a seven night minimum stay. Each campsite camping fee includes the first vehicle, and you can pay an extra fee to have a second vehicle. You can bring your own RV, or tent, or rent one of their RV’s that are already setup in one of their campsites. They also have cabins, and boats available for rent as well. Check in time for Cabins and Trailer Rentals is 4pm, and for campsites the check in time is 2pm. Fishing Boat Rentals at Collins Lake

Collins Lake has several different types of boats rentals available for your fishing trip or vacation getaway with friends and family. Their largest boat is a pontoon boat that holds up to twelve people. The pontoon boats are a great full deck platform for plenty of fishing space, or just lounging with some good conversation while enjoying the beauty that collins lake has to offer. They also have smaller fishing boats that work great for a couple of people fishing, or trolling. They also have some ocean kayaks and stand up paddleboards for some fun on the water. They also have a two story pontoon boat that even has a water slide for the kids!

Collins Lake has several different sizes of cabins and trailer rentals available year round. Whether you are looking for a large 33 foot by 12 foot two bedroom cabin with a kitchen, shower, and covered deck space, or a smaller cabin with multiple beds, they have what you need. They also have large 34 foot camping trailer RV’s that are already setup in one of their nice campsites as well. Talk about convenience, these are perfect for a small or large family.
