Lake Elsinore Fishing Information
Lake Elsinore was once used mainly for boating only. The City of Elsinore has taken great strides to improve the fishery in the lake, including providing additional structures and fish habitat, so it has now become a great fishing lake as well. There is also regular fish being stocked to keep the lake stocked with catchable fish. Wiper bass, a hybrid between Striped Bass (Striper) and White Bass were planted in early 2005 to help to control the over populated carp population, to improve the fishery. Wiper Bass, Largemouth Bass, Panfish, Catfish and Carp can be taken here in great numbers.
Fishermen can do very well fishing from a boat, as well as from the shore. It is an excellent fishing lake for Bass, Crappie, and Catfish. Unique to Lake Elsinore is the Wiper Bass, which is a Striped Bass & White Bass hybrid.
In the spring and summer months the Largemouth Bass action picks up on Lake Elsinore. The bass will get super hungry after their early summer spawn and will attack just about anything you throw at them. The best bets are spinnerbaits, buzzbaits, soft baits, and crankbaits. Best fishing areas would be around the boat docks, submerged structures, rocks, and submerged vegetation, and off the points.
Panfish Fishing At Lake Elsinore
Bluegill, and Crappie, can be caught around the docks, rocky areas, weeds, and submerged vegetation, as well as around under water structures using worms, crickets, live minnows, jigs, fly’s, small soft plastics, and small spinners and spinnerbaits will work best. Crappie can be found in the shallows.
Channel Catfish Fishing At Lake Elsinore
Channel catfish are best fished in the summer. Catfish can be found in the coves and the rocks. Chicken livers, sardines, clams, catfish bait, and mini crawlers will do the trick. Catfish will bite during the day, and at night.
