THERMAL NIGHT VISION
Thermal Night Vision For Hunting
We have taken a look at the best thermal vision optics on the market and put together this
buying guide and reviews page. One of the most important tools to have when you are out
hunting is a good quality pair of optics.
Thermal Optics
Thermal rifle scopes and optics are one of the coolest inventions and game changers for hunting. They are
different from traditional night vision optics because you are not limited to using them at night, and you don’t
have to be stuck with that green grainy view. Thermal optics give you the flexibility to use these scopes and
optics during day or night. Thermal vision can also deliver crisp images in bad weather, where other vision
technologies fail. I prefer to look through these instead of the regular night vision because it highlights the
heat sources to show you the animal that you are seeking. It’s just a neat technology all the way around. The
prices are getting cheaper as advancements are made in the technology and manufacturing process, which is
a win win for us!
Fog is an excellent example of where a traditional night vision scope would fail. Thermal rifle scopes and other
optics read off thermal signatures of all objects and present you with an image showing a gradient map of the
heat signatures. Even in Fog, and through grasses and other brush! Most modern thermal optics feature
different color palates as well as the standard black and white. Some of the higher end optics can output a
video signal by means of a special portable digital recorder so that you can easily record your hunts to show
your friends, family, or online community.
Some of the key components to look for when you are looking for a new thermal hunting optics are objective
lens diameter, resolution and refresh rate of the thermal core, magnification capabilities, reticle patterns and
battery life, and whether they are waterproof.

ATN Thermal Rifle Scope ThOR
ATN's ThOR 4 640 4-40x Thermal Riflescope packs an uncooled thermal array, a full color
display, and high tech electronics with wireless capability into a compact and strong
aluminum body that looks similar to a regular rifle scope. With this scope, you can seek
out your targets during the day or at night, and through fog, smoke, and light
obstructions, but this scope also provides you with the ability to record and broadcast your activities directly
from the scope via a built-in Wi-Fi radio.
It’s Dual Stream Video capability allows you to stream videos over Wi-Fi and simultaneously record them on an
external memory card. Other great features include the Obsidian core processor, E-Compass, and a multitude
of in-view functions, reticles, and ballistic calculators.
It allows you to activate and use layers of functionalities, various reticle patterns, and windage and ballistic
data and calculators to get a more accurate shot on your game. It has a built in Smart Range finder that
estimates distances to your target and automatically adjusts point of impact, and the Ballistic Calculator that
takes into account your firearm, caliber, ammunition, range, wind, and aiming angle and makes trajectory
corrections for you.
The black anodized aluminum housing is durable and also lightweight. It offers a water-resistant performance
that allows you to use this scope in any weather conditions. On the top of this optic you will find a compact
control pad with menu buttons and a knurled digital zoom knob on the left side. For attaching to your firearm,
the scope includes three Picatinny Weaver 30mm rings: two standard rings and one cantilever ring.
